In November, the Electrification Coalition hosted the North Carolina Medium- and Heavy-Duty (MHD) Policy Bootcamp and Showcase. Held at the McKimmon Conference and Training Center in Raleigh, the event featured panels on the wide-ranging benefits of MHD electric vehicles (EVs) and the policy opportunities to advance their deployment in North Carolina.

Governor Roy Cooper gave keynote remarks, emphasizing the economic benefits of transportation electrification, as well as North Carolina’s leadership in EV manufacturing. He also toured the MHD EVs on display at the event, including a Lion6 all-electric truck from Lion Electric Co, an all-electric school bus from Thomas Built Buses, and a Ford F-150 Lightning from the City of Charlotte’s municipal fleet.

Additional panelists from the private and public sectors discussed the state of the market and technology, as well as the experiences of fleets that are transitioning to EVs.
