WASHINGTON—The Electrification Coalition (EC) proudly announces that Andrew Wishnia has joined its Board of Directors. Wishnia is a Partner at Cityfi and most recently served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Climate Policy with the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) under the Biden-Harris administration.
In his role at the USDOT, Wishnia was instrumental in creating and implementing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), two landmark pieces of legislation that significantly accelerated transportation electrification in the U.S. His work has led to monumental investments in public charging infrastructure, incentives for electric vehicles, and growth in American manufacturing and supply chains.
Wishnia previously served as Senior Policy Advisor to the Committee on Environment and Public Works in the U.S. Senate, as well as Special Assistant for Policy at the Federal Highway Administration and Senior Program Manager at the White House Council on Environmental Quality under the Obama administration.
“The EC has been a leader in the EV movement for nearly 15 years and has long advocated for the policies that we passed through the BIL and IRA,” said Wishnia. “I look forward to working with the EC board and staff as we continue the implementation of this historic legislation.”
“Having Andrew join the distinguished team at the EC will help us continue driving electric transportation forward,” said EC Founder, President & CEO Robbie Diamond. “Many challenges remain on the road to a transportation future that uses domestic, diverse, and stably produced electricity, and I am confident that Andrew’s visionary leadership will be a tremendous asset to the EC.”
“Andrew’s contributions to transportation electrification have made the U.S. stronger and safer,” said EC Executive Director Ben Prochazka. “The impact his work has had in reducing our dependence on oil for transportation cannot be understated. We are excited to bring his depth of knowledge and expertise to the EC as we continue our critical work to end oil’s monopoly on our transportation for good.”
