Addressing the Utility and EV Intersection

As commercial and industrial utility fleet customers incorporate electric vehicles (EVs) into their fleets, utility programs and support are needed to ensure the transition happens quickly and seamlessly. The EC partnered with the Alliance for Transportation Electrification to produce a series of issue briefs that identify where utility support is needed as their fleet customers electrify.

These areas include fleet advisory services; reports and tools to plan for the forthcoming capacity on distribution lines; depot charging engagement; and new policies for extending distribution lines for medium- and heavy-duty (MHD) charging. We encourage early collaboration across various stakeholders, including state utility commissions, staff, utilities, and fleets to accelerate the adoption of EVs and charging infrastructure.
