WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Transportation today released revised guidance for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program.

Electrification Coalition Executive Director Ben Prochazka released the following statement:

“The Electrification Coalition welcomes the release of the revised National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program guidance by the U.S. Department of Transportation. We appreciate the Department’s efforts to streamline the program and provide states with greater flexibility to accelerate the deployment of EV charging infrastructure nationwide.

“As the nation transitions to electric transportation, the NEVI program is critical to building a reliable, accessible EV charging network to power the future of transportation in all 50 states. While this progress takes time, we are encouraged by the Department’s commitment to removing unnecessary barriers and enabling states to advance EV infrastructure projects more efficiently.

“Today’s release is a step in the right direction and unlocks projects to move forward, but we look forward to providing input to improve the program further. The Electrification Coalition supports state transportation departments and other stakeholders in advancing a robust EV charging network. We look forward to continued collaboration to meet the growing demand for electric transportation and advance our economic and national security.”
