Electrification Coalition Applauds Biden Announcement on Electrification of Federal Fleets

Washington, D.C.— In response to President Biden’s signing of an executive order that directs federal agencies to procure zero-emission vehicles, Electrification Coalition National Director Ben Prochazka made the following statement:

“The Electrification Coalition applauds the administration for taking this important step to accelerate the electrification of our transportation system,” said Ben Prochazka, National Director of the Electrification Coalition. The transition to electric vehicles is a question of when – not if. And the federal government’s leadership establishes a path forward to reduce the economic, public health and national security risks associated with a transportation system that’s tethered to petroleum, while ensuring that U.S. manufacturing is building the future of transportation.”

“The federal fleet is a heavyweight customer with immense purchasing power. This announcement sends a clear signal to industry and the markets that there’s no turning back – it’s time to take electric vehicle production, charging infrastructure development and charging equipment manufacturing to the next level. And all the positive impacts will reverberate far beyond the federal fleet, because the public sector’s sharp increase in demand for EVs will prime the pump for private-sector fleets and the consumer market.”
