Support Clean Vehicle Tax Policies!

Businesses: Tell Washington to Support Federal Clean Vehicle Tax Policies

With the electric vehicle transition accelerating worldwide, the United States has the opportunity to emerge as a leader while reasserting industrial dominance on the global stage, reinvigorating the American economy and workforce with well-paying jobs, and strengthening national security. Already, the U.S. EV industry has created over 200,000 manufacturing jobs across the country and spurred over $188 billion in private investments; maintaining and building on this momentum will require ongoing federal leadership.

The Electrification Coalition is calling on American businesses, trade associations, and workforce development organizations to join us in urging the federal government to support the domestic EV manufacturing industry by maintaining clean vehicle tax policies and grants to continue to incentivize private investment. Read the letter below and fill out the form to add your organization as a signatory.

Dear House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees,

We, the undersigned businesses, write to express our strong support for the federal clean vehicle tax policies.

The growth of electric vehicles (EVs) presents a vital opportunity for the United States to strengthen national security, increase investment in domestic manufacturing, and ensure that the U.S. auto industry remains globally competitive. Federal support for U.S. EV manufacturing and the U.S. and allies’ supply chain is essential to this effort and relies upon a suite of interactive tax policies and incentives, including the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (30C), the New Clean Vehicle Credit (30D), the Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit (45W), and the Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit (45X). These policies have already attracted private investment, spurred American innovation, and created thousands of well-paying manufacturing jobs across the country.

These policies are pivotal to driving domestic production and fostering innovation while also lowering costs for consumers and businesses. They have already started to stimulate significant transformative economic activity, creating a robust ecosystem that includes auto manufacturers, critical mineral suppliers and processors, battery manufacturers, battery recycling companies, electric motor manufacturers, and related industries.

However, international competitors, such as China, have moved aggressively to capture the future of advanced automotive manufacturing. To reassert a long-term competitive advantage in the global automotive market and future military technologies, the U.S. must prioritize policies that support domestic EV production and address vulnerabilities in battery and mineral supply chains. By strengthening these supply chains, the U.S. can reduce its reliance on foreign resources, enhance energy independence, and protect national security.

These investments not only stimulate private sector innovation, bringing jobs and economic opportunity to small towns and rural communities across the country, but they also provide significant economic benefits, making them a cornerstone of our nation’s energy security and manufacturing strategy.

The economic and national security impacts of EV investments are already clear:

  • Over 200,000 manufacturing jobs have been announced across the U.S., revitalizing local economies and creating pathways to the middle class.
  • Over $188 billion in EV manufacturing investments have been committed, spurring economic growth and innovation.
  • Encourages access to allied and U.S. supply chains and ensures we diversify the fuels powering our transportation sector.

We urge you to defend the policies that protect these critical federal incentives, secure critical mineral supply chains, and support domestic EV manufacturing and assembly. By protecting these key policies and maintaining a dependable investment landscape, we can continue to drive economic growth and create opportunities for American workers and families in communities nationwide while advancing American energy security.
