WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Electrification Coalition applauds the U.S. Department of Transportation and the White House on the release of new draft rules to guide the installation of a nationwide electric vehicle charging network and has released the following statement from Executive Director Ben Prochazka:
“We are pleased to see this significant step from the Biden Administration to implement historic investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. When finalized, these standards will set an important baseline to ensure a consistent nationwide charging experience that is convenient, reliable, and affordable, while paying particular attention to rural and historically disadvantaged areas. Importantly, the draft requirements will also provide flexibility for states to move beyond the minimum in areas of strategic value and importance. Setting a national standard while supporting state and local leadership in an area of rapidly advancing technology represents incredible foresight by the federal government. The Electrification Coalition and our partners look forward to continuing to engage with national, state, and local leaders to help facilitate effective, efficient, and equitable deployment of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure funding program.”
