WASHINGTON—The Electrification Coalition has hired Noah Barnes as its communications director. In this role, he will ensure that the organization continues to provide accurate, timely information about the urgent need for transportation electrification across all platforms and serve as the primary press contact for the organization.

Before joining the EC, Barnes was the communications director for Plug In America, where he first became passionate about electric vehicles and their economic and environmental benefits. As that organization’s first full-time communications professional, he reached millions of consumers with messaging related to EV basics, programs like National Drive Electric Week and PlugStar, and EV advocacy.

“I am excited to join the fantastic Electrification Coalition team and contribute to its mission of electrifying all forms of transportation in the United States,” said Barnes. “Reducing our dependence on oil will not only lessen the devastating impacts of climate change but will also improve our national security, as we shift to fueling our cars and trucks with domestically produced electricity. I look forward to continuing to advance electric vehicles at the Electrification Coalition.”

With nearly 20 years of nonprofit experience, he previously held communications and fundraising roles at Grantmakers in the Arts, the Frye Art Museum, and Lifelong AIDS Alliance. A Seattle native and graduate of the University of Washington, he now resides in Los Angeles.
